Editor's Note

Welcome to the first Funding Latest newsletter from the Scotland National Rural Network website. Once a month we'll be sending out a short special funding edition of our newsletter which will give you regular updates of news, deadlines and announcements about rural funding.

This month's featured funder is Go Play. It is a £4 million programme to help the play sector in Scotland to grow and offer increased opportunities for free play to children aged five to 13 years.

Changes announced  to funding for rural communities

The Scottish Government has announced a major change to the way that rural community facilities will be funded through the Scotland Rural Development Programme. The Community Services and Facilities option will shortly be transferred from Rural Priorities into the LEADER programme. For more details click here.

Third Sector Resilience Fund

The £1.7 million Third Sector Resilience Fund is aimed at third sector organisations who are experiencing the impact of the recession either through seeing an increased demand for their services or experiencing cash flow difficulties.

Rural Funding Opportunities Guide

Updated versions of the Scottish Government's Rural Funding Opportunities Guide are available to download from the documents library. In the concise leaflet, you'll find information about grant assistance available from the Scottish Government, its agencies and bodies, including contact details to help you get started.

Projects receive Rural Priorities funding

A total of £36.8 million has been awarded to 640 projects in the latest round of Rural Priorities funding. A sailing facility in Argyll, a farm shop and restaurant complex in Dumfriesshire and a sports facility in the Shetland Isles are among the projects to receive funding.

log fireRSABI Fuel Poverty Fund

RSABI is again operating a Fuel Poverty Fund to help people in Scotland who have depended on the land for a living. They want to hear from individuals around Scotland who are worried about keeping their homes warm this winter, and who are not already receiving help from them.

Llyods TSB Foundation Scotland suspends grant making

Hundreds of Scottish charities are set to lose at least £6m a year in funding with the announcement that the Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland is closing its door to new applications for grants for the foreseeable future. Find out more here.
