Floods and Rivers: Management and Living with Change, Professor David Gilvear

Environmental change can alter the relationships between floods, rivers and people. Climatic conditions in the future are likely to increase the occurrence of high magnitude events and we should examine how we manage floods and rivers to help mitigate their negative impacts. The talk will also explore how floods are important in maintaining healthy river systems and how society should move towards sustainable flood management.

Followed by open discussion and questions.

Lecture on Environmental Heritage in the Highlands and Islands takes place before this one.
