Editor's Note - Forth Valley and Lomond regional event

Close up of delegates at Forth Valley and Lomond eventThe regional events programme kicked off again in Callander this week. The day was a great opportunity to meet some users of the website, and hopefully encourage some more people from the area to get involved! The Forth Valley and Lomond event took place at the McLaren Leisure Centre on 19th January 2010. The day was lively with over 100 delegates attending. There was a project showcase, funding updates and the chance to hear about lots of initiatives including presentations from two inspiring projects linking the environment and communities.You can read about what happened on the day in our event reports, download presentations and see photos from the event by using the links below:

 

Graveyards - becoming a theme of the regional events?

Run down graveyard with hills in backgroundGraveyard projects have come up in discussion at both the Rural Aberdeenshire and the Forth Valley and Lomond regional events. We've never featured a graveyard project on the website before, so we hope to bring you an article from a project in the coming weeks. There's obviously an interest in the restoration and conservation of graveyards - so if you're involved in a graveyard project, or know about one in your area, then why not share your experience in our Graveyards discussion forum?

Booking open for Moray and East Renfrewshire events

A further 18 events are taking place over coming months as part of the Scottish National Rural Network. Booking is open for the Moray event which takes place on 29th January 2010 at the Inchberry Hall, Fochabers. Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and the Environment Richard Lochhead will attending and giving the opening remarks. Find out more in Book now for Moray Rural Network Regional Event.

Take part in our online survey

As you will have noticed if you've visited the website recently, Ipsos Mori are currently carrying out a user survey to help us further develop the website. The online survey should only take a few minutes to complete and we'd like as many people as possible to take part so we can get the best possible picture. First conference of the UK National Rural Network

The first conference of the UK National Rural Network will take place on 10th and 11th March 2010 in Belfast. More details about the event programme are expected soon and we'll keep you updated through this newsletter and on the website. Pigs in fieldPack Inquiry Interim Report Published

The interim report from Brian Pack's Inquiry into the Future of Agricultural Support in Scotland has been published. Those with an interest in farming are being urged to have their say on this report to help shape the final report, which will be published later this year. IRN Forum: find out about Kavaad storytelling

The first evening of the International Rural Network conference held in Udaipur India in August 2009 gave delegates the opportunity to find out about Kavaad, a traditional Rajasthani storytelling technique. Working group set up to look at snow damage to farm buildings

Around 200 farm buildings were damaged or collapsed during the recent big freeze. The Scottish Government have set up a short term working group to consider how those affected can be assisted. You can find out more in Farm building snow damage working group set up.
