The Trustees of the Dunnet Head Educational Trust are delighted to have recently become a member of Wild Scotland, a proactive and forward thinking organisation.

The Trust is finalising the arrangements for the Caithness & Sutherland Walking Festival (1-8 May) and working with the Caithness Chamber of Commerce to look at ways of developing the walking product in the far north of Scotland. This includes the Scottish Coastal Way, being accredited to the "Walkers are Welcome" scheme and working with a London University to create an integrated database driven scheme for booking walks.

Dunnet Head is a great place to view wildlife - puffins, fulmar and razorbills are just some of the birds which nest on the Head, and there are regular visits from cetaceans and even a resident seal colony in Brough Bay. The Trust has created a DVD which depicts the many aspects of the Head, dubbed "Caithness in Miniature" by Wild Scotland.

As the perimeter of Dunnet Head is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, it seems appropriate that the Trust is a partner in the 2010 International Year of Biodiversity and is involved with many activities throughout the year.
