LEADER Local Action Groups across Europe are being invited to join two transnational cooperation projects working in rural tourism.

'The Village Full of Treasure' project aims to support the development of tourism in rural areas through the integration and appropriate use of diverse resources in rural areas. The Valley of Sola Local Action Group (LAG) in Poland is looking for partners in other countries.

They would like to cooperate on issues related to the potential for innovative use of tourism, which they see as one of the greatest treasures in the countryside. To find out more and get contact details download the Village Full of Treasures briefing note from our documents library.

The PROAGRITOUR II project aims to exploit the PROAGRITOUR label which was created by Aitolike Development Enterprise S.A (Greece), 3A-Parco Tecnologico Agroalimentare dell'Umbria (Italy), Provincia di Udine (Italy) and the College of Logistics (Czech Republic). The label has been registered at European level and concerns alternative tourism units such as restaurants, production of organic products and local traditional feasts.

The object of the transnational cooperation project will be the exploitation of the label, through the application of quality standards, networking, environmental conscience and exploitation of local resources. The project will also aim to improve an area's image and the application of marketing. For more information see the PROAGRITOUR briefing note and contact details for Aitoliki Development Enterprise in our documents library.

More on transnational cooperation

The European Network for Rural Development recently published a list of transnational cooperation opportunities across the region. They've also produced a comprehensive guide to transnational cooperation. You can get more information and links to both these documents in Opportunities for transnational cooperation.
