Scotland: National Rural NetworkWould you like to be a record breaker? Then Friends of Volunteering Clydesdale needs you! They are staging a Guinness World Record attempt. With your help they aim to generate electricty from bicycles over a 24-hour period.
The record currently stands at 12,953 watts and they need at least 1000 participants to stand a chance of breaking the record. The attempt begins at 5pm on Friday 27th August and lasts until 5pm on Saturday 28th August at the Coalburn One Stop Shop.
Their heroic attempt is part of their Sustainable Saturday family day where there is something for everyone and non-participants can lend their support or enjoy other activities such as a soft play area, healthy cooking demonstrations, face painting and bouncy castles.
As long as you cycle for a minimum minute you can become part of history and gain entry into the Guinness Book of Records. This event can be used as a team building event for staff or clubs, or organisations can use if for fundraising opportunities.
They will be arranging transport from locations throughout Clydesdale. The bikes will be provided and you don't need to worry about the weather - you'll be indoors and under a marquee!
