North Fife Orchard Project

Project by Fife Coast and Countryside Trust

The aims of the project are: to survey traditional orchards under private and public ownership in North Fife, to assess the interest of orchard owners in participating in an area-wide initiative to actively manage traditional orchards, to communicate with communities, schools and landowners about the biodiversity, local food values and cultural traditions of orchards and associated economic opportunities, to foster local interest, encourage the revival of local groups, to work with co-operating schools and communities to plant and manage new orchards, to develop a strategy for linking traditional orchard conservation and management and communithy based business development in North Fife with work underway in the Carse of Gowrie.
