Scotland: National Rural NetworkJura Development Trust and Jura Hall are working in partnership to facilitate the phased redevelopment of Jura Hall. This application relates to Phase 1 -Jura Hall upgrade and environmental improvements. The hall is situated in the centre of Craighouse and is close to the pier, shop, distillery and Antlers tearoom.
The aim of the project is twofold: a) to improve energy efficiency of the existing hall by cladding the walls and roof with insulating materials, replacement of windows and draught proofing. A full energy audit of the hall will be carried out at the start of the project and once the insulation programme is complete to identify the full impact of the work. An energy efficiency awareness raising event will be held once this phase is complete and b) to improve community access to the hall, shop, distillery, Antlers and Jura Passenger Ferry by creating parking area on rough ground beside the hall. This will also reduce traffic congestion and increase road safety within Craighouse. An Interpretation Cairn - display of series 1 out of 5 JDT Heritage boards - will be erected within the car park area.
