Scotland: National Rural Network
The digital television switchover for those served by the Knockmore transmitter is happening soon. The Knockmore transmitter serves an area around Knockmore, Craigellachie, Grantown, Aviemore and Kingussie.
Between now and 2012, analogue channels are being switched off region by region and replaced with free-to-air digital TV and radio services (Freeview).
The two dates for the digital switchover are 8th September and 22nd September 2010. You can find out what you need to do on the Digital UK website.
Roadshow events will take place in Aviemore in the Winking Owl Car Park from 9am to 5pm on 8 - 9th September and 22nd September. The events are an opportunity to find out more about your digital options, put general or technical questions to specially trained advisors and to find out more about the Switchover Help Scheme. You can find out more about the events on the Digital UK website.
Many areas of rural Scotland have already completed the digital switchover. If you're not sure when your region will be switching over, you can call the Digital Switchover advice line on 08456 50 50 50, or use the postcode checker on the Digital Switchover website.
On the Digital Switchover website you'll also find a useful help section with a step-by-step guide, details on how to retune your set and help videos. There is also a Help Scheme for those aged 75 and over, eligible for certain disability benefits, registered blind or partially sighted or living in care homes.
Grants are available for community outreach events to raise awareness of the switchover in your area. If you are interested in holding an event, you can download the Digital Outreach Grant Application Form from our documents library or get in touch with Rural Direct on 0845 838 8598 or email info@ruraldirect.org.uk.
