Scotland: National Rural Network
Scotland is currently in the process of switching over to digital TV. Many areas, including Shetland and Orkney and the Borders have already switched over.
However there are many parts of rural Scotland still to switch including those in the Durris, Knockmore, Rosemarkie, Torosay, Rosneath and Darvel, Craigkelly and Black Hill transmitter areas.
Grants are available for community outreach events to raise awareness of the switchover in your area. The minimum grant is normally £100 and the maximum grant is £500. Funds can be used to cover a range of costs including room hire, publicity costs, travel costs and refreshments on the day. There is a simple application form.
Rural Direct can provide you with leaflets and presentations, and may be able to come out and speak at your event. If you are interested in holding an event, you can download the Digital Outreach Grant Application Form from our documents library or get in touch with Rural Direct on 0845 838 8598 or email info@ruraldirect.org.uk.
If you're not sure when your region will be switching over, you can call the Digital Switchover advice line on 08456 50 50 50, or use the postcode checker on the Digital Switchover website.
On the Digital Switchover website you'll also find a useful help section with a step-by-step guide, details on how to retune your set and help videos. There is also a Help Scheme for those aged 75 and over, eligible for certain disability benefits, registered blind or partially sighted or living in care homes.
Roadshows and advice points will be visiting each area around the time of the switchover. You can find details of the events on the Digital Switchover website.
And remember, most televisions can be converted using a digital box - so don't throw your telly out!
