Scotland's Food and Drink Fortnight is just around the corner. From 4th - 19th September celebrations of Scottish produce will take place across the country.

On the Scottish Food and Drink Fortnight website you can look for events in your area, and those that are happening country-wide. Events include a Harvest Feast in Linlithgow, the Huntly Hairst Food and Farming Festival and a Savour the Flavours of Dumfries & Galloway menu at the Buccleuch Arms Hotel in Moffat. There will even be an evening of Scottish Food and Drink in Dunedin, New Zealand!

The aims of the event are to:

  • Encourage people to discover, buy and enjoy the food and drink produced on their doorstep
  • Encourage the food industry - from restaurants to retailers and caterers - to source and champion quality Scottish produce
  • Build Scotland's reputation for excellent quality food and drink
  • Raise awareness of and support the people who produce our food and drink

You can find out more on the Scottish Food and Drink Fortnight website.

I had a fantastic meal at the Loch Leven Seafood Cafe the other day - delicious oysters, succulent scallops with soy dressing, mussels in cider, langoustines and a berry soup and blancmange pudding. All washed down with a rather nice bottle of Muscadet.
