Scotland: National Rural Network
The Black Isle Brewery have won a prestigious Organic Food Award with their Yellowhammer Bitter. The beer was awarded the Beer and Cider prize and was described by judges as "special" and "fresh". Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall will hand out the awards at the Soil Association Organic Food Festival in Bristol on 11th September.
The Soil Association Organic Food Awards are now in their 22nd year and showcase the very best organic food and drink. The judging took place at the Duke of Cambridge organic pub in London, where 58 judges blind tasted around 600 products to choose winners of 12 categories!
Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall said, "It is a pleasure to be handing out the Organic Food Awards this year to such devoted and deserving producers. And of course most of all I look forward to sampling their fantastic produce."
Geetie Singh, judge and owner of the Duke of Cambridge remarked, "The Organic Food Awards are a celebration of great organic food that is produced sustainably and to the highest welfare and environmental standards, food that has top quality provenance and an interesting story to tell."
