We are delighted to announce the winner and runner up of the Summer theme of our Seasons of Rural Scotland. Frances Trainer took the top spot with 'Sunset Cycle' an image showing Frances' son climbing home after a long cycle, with Rum and Eigg in the background. Graham Niven is the runner up with his flora and fauna photo 'Gentle Thistle' taken on their farm in Aberdour in Fife.

The voting in our online poll to decide the winner was incredibly close. Over 300 of you voted for your favourite from our five Summer finalists. Sunset Cycle received 32 percent of the votes, with Gentle Thistle close behind with 29 percent.

Norette Ferns, editor of the Scottish National Rural Network website, said, "We're delighted to announce the winner and runner-up of the final theme in our Seasons of Rural Scotland photo competition. The voting has never been closer in our photo competition polls - reflecting the fantastic quality of all five of our finalists. Both Sunset Cycle and Gentle Thistle are excellent photos reflecting Scotland in Summer."
