Homecoming 2009 - The John Muir Odyssey

A Fantastic Free Festival in John Muir CountryTaking place from 2nd to 4th May, 10am-5pm, in a tented village at the harbour in North Berwick, is a fantastic FREE three day festival by the sea, featuring art, live music, theatre, science and nature, children's activities, walks, talks and boat trips.

The event, "Our Wee Planet Festival", is part of the John Muir Odyssey, one of the main events for Homecoming Scotland, and is inspired by the natural world, as John Muir was over a hundred years ago.

It all kicks off the night before with "The Shindig", a ceilidh by the sea on the harbourside, featuring music from the Infamous Grouse ceilidh band. Tickets for this event (priced £12 or £10.50 for Seabird Centre members) should be booked in advance from the Seabird Centre or by calling 01620 890202.

With a major line-up of artists, scientists and musicians, it's a packed schedule - boat trips, walks, talks and exhibitions (see programme highlights below and full programme attached).  There's something to suit all tastes and ages - from traditional crafts demonstrations, beach sand sculpture competition, artists' workshops, guided walks around North Berwick's historic heart, talks on renewable energy and pioneering new green technologies. A special 4hour round trip by "Muir's World by Land & Sea", stopping off for a guided walk around Dunbar, will give a wonderful insight into the world that inspired John Muir, discovering his favourite haunts around East Lothian
