Cairndow Community Childcare Facility Feasibility

Cairndow Community Childcare Ltd. is a voluntary community organisation with charitable status serving the village of Cairndow and the surrounding rural settlements. The organisation was established in 2002 in order to address the lack of childcare provision in the local area by members of the local community and has been run since as a social enterprise, operating from Cairndow Village Hall.

Isle of Arran - Scotland's Food Island

On May 27th 2010, Tourism Minister Jim Mather announced a year-long culinary celebration as the first in 4 themed years to build on the Legacy of the 2009 Year of Homecoming and pave the way for the subsequent Homecoming Celebrations in 2014:2010 Food & Drink; 2011 Active Scotland; 2012 Creativity and Innovation; 2013 Natural Scotland.

Jura Hall Upgrade & Environmental Improvements Phase 1

Jura Development Trust and Jura Hall are working in partnership to facilitate the phased redevelopment of Jura Hall. This application relates to Phase 1 -Jura Hall upgrade and environmental improvements. The hall is situated in the centre of Craighouse and is close to the pier, shop, distillery and Antlers tearoom.

Revamped shed and slurry storage project

Young farmer Andrew Ronald from Kintyre has been awarded to £21,500 to revamp the internal structure of an existing cattle shed and extend the storage of the existing slatted tanks. The revamped shed and slurry storage will improve the conditions for his livestock, make better use of forage, create a better environment to encourage growth and minimise disease. As a result the business will be better able to respond to market changes.

Wetland management project, Argyll

Messrs G S Brechin and Son of near Kilmartin, Argyll have been awarded £33,500 over five years to manage wetland and species rich ground to benefit the Marsh Fritillary Butterfly listed on the Species Action Framework and the narrow bordered beehawk moth a UK Biodiversity priority species. Dragonflies and damselflies will also benefit.

Kilmaho farms milking parlour

Young Farmers James and Linda Maclean of Kilmaho farms, Kintyre have been awarded £72,000 towards the installation of a new 16x16 herring bone milking parlour and shed to house the parlour for their 100 Holstein Friesians. The existing parlour was installed in 1977 and is now out of date and very labour intensive. The new parlour will streamline the milking operation and save time to enable a one man operation and save several hours of work a day.

Inclusive Outdoor Access Networks

To identify disabled people's priorities for accessible routes especially core paths; provide and promote information on current levels of outdoor accessibility; develop ways of abbreviating outdoor access information; establish mechanisms where disabled people can express and publish their views on outdoor access opportunities.

Bell Baxter High School Junior Rangers

Recruit a group of young people from Bell Baxter's "Personal and Vocation" course to Fifes' Junior Ranger Programme.  Deliver monthly conservation tasks, manged by the Fife Ranger Service and explore cultural and environmental issues in Iceland.

Letham Park Community Eco-Shelter

The project aims to replace the current old & dilapidated wooden shelter with a larger, community designed built shelter constructed from local, natural and sustainable materials (timber, stone & clay).

Rural Development Support

The project will work with rural communities to develop a more co-ordinated joined up approach to community led activities as well as identify what access is required to local services.  This approach will bring and promote a great deal of closer collaborative working together that will maximise communities potential.  The project intends to organise a series of Committee Skills training, roles of volunteers and action plan developments in partnership with Volunteer Centre Fife's Training Officer.
