On the Social Enterprise Academy’s Ignite Residential, you and 20 other social entrepreneurs will identify your key motivations, clarify your goals, and plan the next steps of your organisation’s growth. Ignite is not for start-ups. The experience is for established social enterprises who want to take their operations to the next level.
This workshop is aimed at women considering setting up a consultancy in science, engineering, technology or the built environment (SET). It will also be useful for women thinking of starting another type of SET business. The day includes a skills audit, advice on how to generate leads and a look at whether self employment is right for you. The workshop will be facilitated by Vanessa Boon of Energise, an associate trainer with the UKRC.

The Scottish Countryside Alliance Awards 2010 are looking for rural Scotland's best enterprises, traditional businesses, retailers and local food producers. The Awards, now in their third year, launched at last week's Royal Highland Show.

Machars Movies, a community enterprise based on the Isle of Whithorn, have scooped one of the top prizes at the UK finals of the Countryside Alliance Awards. The most southerly cinema in Scotland has won the Best Rural Enterprise Award at the awards, which were held at the House of Lords last week.
Consumer Focus Scotland are carrying out a survey about the delivery of goods. Some companies do not deliver to certain areas, or if they do - they often apply extra charges. The consumer watchdog want to build a picture of what the current position is. The survey should only take about five minutes to complete, but it closes on 12th February 2010.

A series of outreach workshops will take place in 2010 to help farmers and rural businesses in Forth Valley and Fife to access funding from the Scotland Rural Development Programme's Rural Priorities scheme.
Stirling Enterprise (STEP) has secured a second year of funding from the Scottish Government Skills Development Scheme to run the events, which will equip farmers with the IT and web know-how to apply to the online grant scheme.
