The Original Bicycle Festival took place across Dumfries and Galloway from May 12 to May 24 2009. A range of cycling and cycling themed events formed the programme of the Festival. The Festival Programme Planning and Development Post aims to support the Festival Programme Planning Group in the development and co-ordination of future programmes, finding new venues and growing audience numbers.

It was a good summer, 2009: Stuart Golabek re-emerged as a force to be reckoned with in Scottish football, we had an excellent barbeque at Sheila and the Master Mariner's abode by Invergordon, a Graduation Ceremony in Aberdeen and an atmospheric Inverness v Ross County derby match.

The festival is a celebration of the heritage and regeneration of Kirkintilloch and surrounding areas linked by the Forth and Clyde Canal.
