Help Community Guidelines

The Rural Gateway website shares news, views and information from across rural Scotland. You can share your experience and knowledge with others, and let us know what you think about a range of issues, by posting comments on the site. We’d like you to get involved, following the community guidelines below.

The Rural Gateway is a moderated website, which means that any comments or postings are checked by the editor. The editor may remove a posting, or part of a posting, that is unacceptable. If you feel that any behaviour on the site is unacceptable for any reason please contact the editor by email at editor@ruralgateway.org.uk to raise your concerns.

Any content you add to the Rural Gateway remains your intellectual property.

When using the site please ensure that:

  • You respect other users and their points of view, even if you disagree with them. Disagree with opinions not people.
  • You are careful when using ambiguous language and humour that may inadvertently offend.
  • You do not make unwarranted criticism, abusive or libellous comments about other people and organisations.
  • With sensitive situations you phrase your comments in such a way that individuals cannot be identified from them.
  • You do not use the Rural Gateway to advertise your organisation or yourself.
  • If you quote from a book, journal, website or other reference material, clearly state your source and don’t quote more than is permitted by normal copyright restrictions.
  • You do not distribute text or graphic material that is copyright protected unless you have permission to do so.

If you have any queries about these guidelines, please do not hesitate to contact the editor on editor@ruralgateway.org.uk. You can download a pdf version of these guidelines from our documents library.

The Rural Gateway website is funded by the Scottish Government, hosted and supported by Sift and content managed by the Rural Team at the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations.
