Farmgate to dinner plate
New stickers are now available for farmers to put on their slow moving vehicles, to apologise to fellow road users for any delay. The stickers are being provided by NFU Scotland and read: "Sorry for the delay. Farmgate to the dinner plate – good food comes to those who wait."
Many motorists become frustrated if they are caught behind slow moving farm vehicles. It is hoped that this apology will go some way towards alleviating that frustration.
NFU Scotland also remind those driving slow moving vehicles to be aware of frustration caused and to pull over at any available opportunity to allow motorists to continue their journeys. It is also hoped that the stickers will remind motorists that farmers are busy producing food for the nation and will help to develop a better understanding of why delays sometimes occur.
Alison Mitchell, NFUS Business Development Manager said, “A simple apology by farmers, and an understanding by motorists of why there are sometimes delays, can go a long way. The public is Scottish farming’s ultimate customer and farming produces much of the quality food consumed on dinner tables every day. It is therefore important that we develop a mutual understanding so that everyone can be supportive of Scottish farming and nobody is frustrated by short delays.”
If you would like a sticker for your vehicle please call NFU Scotland on 0131 472 4000.
