Your Project - Learning in Regeneration skills pack

Communities scotland logoWhat's your project?

The Learning in Regeneration skills pack. The skills pack is built on the Communities Scotland’s Scottish Centre for Regenerations ‘Creating a learning landscape’ skills and competency framework. The framework sets out 22 key skills that over 500 organisations and professional bodies agreed were the needed to create effective working practices.

The skills pack is a way for individuals to assess their skill level against the framework and then to go about finding ways to meet their needs. The skills pack takes an individual on a learning journey from identifying the skills gaps right through to celebrating successes. The skills pack also includes a section on developing a learning organisation and culture and helping others to learn.

Where is it?

All over Scotland. It is a pack that is availble free of charge through our distribution partner learndirect for business on our helpline number 08456 000111. We are working with a number of partner agencies to help support individuals and organsiations use the pack. Learndirect for business can support organisations with 250 or less employees to use the pack and can be contacted through the helpline number.

HICCaP support the Highlands and Islands on the use of the pack and we are currently working with 19 of the 32 Volunteer Centres to help support the roll out.

Who's involved?

The Scottish Centre for Regneration, who produced the framework and the skills pack. Learndirect for Business, who are a distribution partner and support organisations. HICCaP in their support for a learning champion network.

How is it funded?

Communities Scotland’s Scottish Centre for Regeneration  is funded directly by the Scottish Executive.

When is it funded to?

Annually.

Biggest achievement so far?

We have had over 2000 requests for the skills pack to date, and we have just received news that the skills pack has successfully gone through SQA endorsement.

Any downsides so far?

The skills pack is quite large and this has put people off.  We are developing a guide which will hopefully help people to overcome this barrier and help them to use the pack. The skills pack can do so much for people and organsiations, we just need to get people over the size barrier.

Any advice needed from Rural Gateway users?

If people have got the skills pack and are using it we’d be happy to hear any feedback you have on it. Also if you have the pack but haven’t used it let us know and we’ll send the draft guide we’re working on to see if it helps.
