May photo competition gallery

Welcome to our May gallery, featuring the best of that month's submissions to our 'Living in rural Scotland' photo competition. There were lots of great entries in May, with people climbing hills, fences and even trees! If you click on an image you will be taken to a larger version.

Our competition is running throughout the year, so send your photos to editor@ruralgateway.org.uk. Remember, we are looking for photos that represent living and working in rural Scotland.

And the winner is . . .

Three canoes - Falls of Lora, copyright Steve Eccles

Steve Eccle's Three canoes - Falls of Lora was taken from Connel Bridge as three canoeists tackle the tide at the Falls of Lora. Steve said, "I find the competition a great stimulus to taking a few more photos. I nearly always carry a small camera with me and would encourage anyone else to do the same. The canoeists photo makes the point as it was a 'grab the moment' shot. I'd just popped down the road to Connel village and spotted the canoes as I approached Connel  bridge. So I parked and walked onto the bridge to get the shot. I later spoke to some of the canoeists and discovered they had come up from Birmingham especially to try the Falls of Lora waters."

Best of the rest
