Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation
The Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation is inviting people to nominate good causes for its annual charity give away.
'Make a Difference Week' will run from Friday 15th June during which existing customers and members of the public are invited to call into any of the society's branches to recommend a charity to receive a £50 grant.
Loise Neill of the Foundation said: "Make a Difference Week offers the Society the chance to support smaller, local charities that are often overlooked by large organisations but are important to the communities where our staff and members live and work."

E.On Source Fund

The E.ON Source fund offers grants of up to £30,000 to local community groups and not for profit organisations located in England, Scotland and Wales that wish to implement sustainable energy projects in their buildings. Applications deadlines are 24th August 2007 and the 21st December 2007.

Primetime

Primetime, the latest collaboration between the Big Lottery Fund and BBC Scotland, are looking for projects aimed at helping older people get together to keep healthy and active.
The country is split into six region areas: Highland and Islands, Edinburgh and Lothian, North East, Glasgow and West, Central and Fife, and Ayrshire and South Scotland. 18 projects will be chosen from around the country for the final BBC series which will enable viewers to vote for the project they would like to see funded. The winners from each region will receive a £500,000 award from the Big Lottery Fund.
Alison Magee, chair of the Big Lottery Fund's Scotland Committee said: "At present Scotland's population is ageing faster than any other country in Europe. Half the population will be over 50 in ten years time. We want people in their 50s and over to be able to live life to the full, and share their skills, experience and talent for the benefit of the whole community."
The deadline for applications is August 24 2007.

During the last bidding round, the ten winners received £20,000 with the overall winner receiving an extra £10,000. Ten highly commended organisations each received £5,000.

Donate a PC
Donate a PC is a free ''matchmaking'' service for individuals and organisations to donate un-needed hardware (computers, printers etc) to UK charities, not-for-profit organisations and educational establishments (hardware only - not software).
It is primarily for those with only one or two items to donate and/or who can not use a suitable recycling organisation. However they also have a comprehensive list of organisations that have larger quantities of computer equipment to donate to charities.
ILA Scotland
The income threshold for the ILA Scotland £200 scheme has been raised from £15,000 to £18,000.
This means that everyone earning up to £18,000 a year now has access to £200 in their Individual Learning Account per year for use toward tuition fees for a wide range of courses approved by ILA Scotland.
If you earn more than £18,000 a year, you can get £100 toward your learning.  This is a great opportunity also for voluntary groups that may have a limited training budget.  Their volunteers or staff can use their Individual Learning Accounts to access training that can support their organisation's aims.
The Friends Provident Foundation
The Friends Provident Foundation makes grants of up to £200,000 to not-

The Foundation will consider applications for work that will make a strategic contribution to the overall outcome of financial inclusion in the UK. Within this overall requirement, the Foundation will consider requests for capital or revenue funding, core funds or project costs.
The next closing date for applications is the 27th July 2007.

Agreed, I'm a great fan of freecycle.
There's no reason though that folk in Scotland can't use Donate a PC though. It's just matter of getting more awareness and encouraging people in Scotland donate.

Looks good, but I notice no Scottish locations, and transport will be a big factor in any transfer of equipment.

Another opportunity may be:-

http://www.freecycle.org/

Where local 'groups' might facilitate quick face-to-face handovers.
