New study looks at potential of online business training
Is online training and learning appropriate for landbased businesses in Scotland’s remote and rural areas? What works best for work-based learning?A new study being carried out by Oatridge College’s Landbased Industries Support Service (LISS), will look at these issues and they are currently inviting businesses to take part.
The study will investigate the preferred mode of delivery for business training and work-based learning in rural areas, and whether or not online methods, such as distance learning packages, are appropriate to the needs of small or medium enterprises.
Central to discussions will be an assessment of the business views on the potential of online development training and skills improvement. LISS are currently contacting landbased employers and sole traders to invite them to take part in an online survey.
This survey will form part of the first stage of the study, along with individual meetings with employers. The second stage will involve a number of focus groups with interested stakeholders being held around the country.
The study is funded by the British Educational Communications and Technology Agency (BECTA) and is due to report in early 2008.
More details on the study, including a web link to the survey will be on the LISS website soon. If you would like more information on the study, or would like to take part, contact Chris Wond, LISS Project Manager on 01506 864 800 or email chris@liss-scotland.org.uk
