Celebrate Highland diversity

Image of a group of people jumping up in celebrationA celebration of the many diverse elements of Highland culture will take place on Thursday 5th July at Falcon Square and the Eastgate Centre in Inverness from 11am to 4pm.

The event is being organised by the Highlands and Islands Equality Forum in partnership with the Crown Office, Northern Constabulary, Communities Scotland and Highland Council.

A stage in Falcon Square will see a variety of acts perform, from Highland dancers to German break dancers. There will also be a Gaelic event provided by a number of Gaelic agencies working in collaboration.

The learning disabled community will give a demonstration of their art work. Creepy crawlies will also make an appearance, with an opportunity to handle a giant cockroach!

Static displays will be on show in the Eastgate Shopping Centre, the Northern Constabulary community bus will be in Falcon Square and Moray Firth Radio will be doing an outside broadcast.

There will be information stands in relation to domestic abuse, immigration law and other issues, with private interview areas for experts to offer advice to members of the public.

This is just taster of what will be on offer on the day, you can find more information on the Highlands and Islands Equality Forum website or by contacting Lisa Buchanan on 01463 251 735.
