Gigha Trust seek assistant manager

Image of Isle of Gigha windfarm from the air, courtesy of Isle of Gigha Heritage TrustThe Isle of Gigha has seen a remarkable turnaround in the past five years. After decades of decline, the forward-thinking community has done much to regenerate their island. The number of residents has risen from 98 to 155 and the primary school now has 25 rather than 6 pupils.

The community-owned island is home to the first UK grid connected community owned windfarm.  The Isle of Gigha Heritage Trust has opened a quarry, owns and manages the island hotel, self catering cottages and Achamore Gardens. Investment in the Trust’s housing stock has included the creation of a consortium of local building firms.

The Isle of Gigha Heritage Trust are now looking for an Assistant Trust Manager to help continue this regeneration and work with islanders to ensure a sustainable and vibrant future for Gigha.

The post involves working closely with the Island of Gigha Heritage Trust Directors and members, liaising with public agencies as well as local groups and businesses. The closing date is 14th December 2007. Rented accommodation is available, but there is also a frequent ferry service to the island.
