doctors in the highlands

With others I have been charged with getting together an information pack to try to attract general medical practitioners to our isolated practice in Ardnamurchan. Does anyone have relevant experience - in particular in relation to getting together an information pack for potential applicants?
Any comments welcome.

Doctors in the Highlands - and Islands

The island of Jura had extreme difficulty in attracting a Doctor through NHS standard procedure. Once they took it on themselves to advertise they succeeded. I suggest you contact Jura Development Trust via their website.

Dear John,

I am delighted that you are doing this. If you are a member of the NHS E library in Scotland you will be able to access the Rural Shared Space and the Rural E library. There are discussion threads and some vignettes about rural healthcare working. The NHS Scotland Remote and Rural group would also be interested in your work, and they have already conducted a large scale piece of work to try to capture the range of rural GP skills that are required for what is probably one of the most interesting and varied jobs in the NHS. Please let me have your contact if you need more detail. best wishes for 2008 and good luck with your work. Gill Swan, (Rural EPM) NHS Educcation for Scotland

A good idea is to check out the NHS Scotland jobs website and click on the various jobs roles there for ideas for your pack.
