Rural Update 91
14 March 2007
Catch up with the latest news from the Rural Community Gateway

EDITOR'S NOTE
Last Monday morning, I had almost conquered my fear of going on the
ferry to Stornoway for the Rural Services Conference. Then, it was
cancelled. As many of you will be aware, the conference was able to
go ahead thanks to video-conferencing,
with some delegates in Inverness and some in Stornoway. Most of the
scheduled speakers were able to give their presentations, and you can
download them from the documents library now. I was very disappointed
not to make it to the Western Isles and catch up with Gateway users.
It was, however, very nice to have a chat with those of you who made
it as far as Inverness!
RURAL RAMBLING GETS RECOGNITION
Patrick Vickery's Garden Blethers, Rural Blethers and Rural Ramblings
have always been popular with Rural Gateway users, and Patrick
recently got recognition from a national newspaper. In the Property
and Homes section of The Independent Victoria Summerly called his
blethers "mad, mad, mad"! Read the article here:
See http://money.independent.co.uk/property/homes/article2332921.ece
He was also quoted, on the subject of slugs, in a garden book
by Jane Perrone published in January 2007.
