What can Breast Cancer Care Scotland do for you?

By Janice Malone

Image of Breast Cancer Care logoBreast Cancer Care has been providing information and support to people affected by breast cancer for more than 30 years.  We deliver services to women and men who have breast cancer, their family, friends and carers and healthcare professionals. We also provide support and information to anyone with breast health concerns.  All our services are free.

Do you need to talk to someone who understands?

Our peer support service can put you in touch with someone who has personal experience of breast cancer – they can offer skilled emotional support and share their experiences and understanding.

Our living with breast cancer courses and information sessions offer people affected by breast cancer support, so you can share experiences and build friendships in a relaxed and welcoming environment. We also provide specific support for younger women with breast cancer and run groups for people with secondary breast cancer.

Do you need practical support?

Losing your hair as a side effect of your treatment can affect confidence and cause many people to feel insecure about the way they look.  Headstrong can help increase your self-esteem and teaches you practical techniques and gives you the information you need to know when coping with hair loss

We understand that it can take some time to become comfortable with the loss and change to your body after breast surgery.  Our prosthesis fitting service can help you choose the right prosthesis for you, and talk through any emotional and practical concerns you may have.

Other services

Breast Cancer Care also has a range of other services such as telephone support groups, discussion forums, publications and ask the nurse which may be accessed via our website at or via our freephone helpline 0808 800 6000. http://www.breastcancercare.org.uk/
