EDITOR'S NOTE
Welcome to our 100th Rural Update. It's a landmark for the Rural
Gateway, and to celebrate we asked you to send us your nominations
for a 100 Best things in rural Scotland list. We received over 200
nominations, from music festivals to a long drop toilet! Thanks to
everyone who shared their favourite things with us.

The 100 Best things in rural Scotland list is now on the Gateway
homepage. I'm sure you'll agree that the list is a wonderful
celebration of rural Scotland.
To go to the list see http://www.ruralgateway.org.uk/item/1907

Today is the last day to sign the Halls for All campaign e-petition. If you
wish to sign the e-petition after it has been closed to signatures online
you can contact the Public Petition Committee by email and request that
your name be added. Email petitions@scottish.parliament.uk. SCVO will continue
to accept paper copies for the next couple of weeks.

PHOTO COMPETITION
Don't forget to send your summer snaps to our 'Living in rural
Scotland' photo competition. We are looking for photos that represent
living and working in Scotland's rural communities. Take a look at
our photo competition archive to see our previous winners and best
submissions. And look out for the July winner being announced next
week.

REGULAR FEATURES
We are currently looking for people to take part in our regular
features Getting to Know You and Your Project. Getting to Know You is
the part of the site where people tell us a bit about themselves and
their area. Your Project is a great opportunity to let rural Scotland
know about the work you do on your community project. It's easy to
take part in both of these features. If you would be interested
please email mailto:editor@ruralgateway.org.uk.

NOTES FROM THE FARM
Michael Johnston has filed his second Notes from the Farm report,
which is a very topical article called Farming in the rain. We have
added a Notes from the Farm archive on the right hand side of the
home page, so you can find all of the articles in one place.
See http://www.ruralgateway.org.uk/item/1900

EVENTS
Events in our calendar include the Living Food at Cawdor Castle event
and the National Centre for Migration Studies conference. If you have
an event you would like to feature on the Rural Gateway please email
me at mailto:editor@ruralgateway.org.uk.
