NFU Scotland hold Rural Priorities surgeries

Image of Jonnie Hall, courtesy of NFU ScotlandNFU Scotland are holding a series of events across rural Scotland to help their members apply for funding from the Rural Development Contracts – Rural Priorities scheme.

Farmers, foresters, businesses and communities can apply to Rural Priorities, which is part of the Scotland Rural Development Programme 2007-2013 (SRDP). Almost £800 million is available over the next six years to deliver environmental, social and economic benefits. There are a range of options for which people can apply to Rural Priorities on a competitive basis.

NFU Scotland Head of Rural Policy Jonnie Hall, who is leading the meetings said, "At first glance, the SRDP’s scale and structure may prove daunting, but NFU Scotland is determined to make sure that members get the opportunity to see how they might benefit from what’s on offer and that they are equipped to apply.

"We’re inviting our members to think about where they see their business in five years’ time and how they plan to get there.

"It is these fundamental questions which should provide the motivation to become better informed about what’s on offer. This is what is at the heart of NFU Scotland’s major nationwide undertaking and we hope therefore that a great number of our members will draw benefit from that."

NFU Scotland will be holding 28 surgeries throughout the country to guide their members through the SRDP process, and help them to decide what best suits their needs.
