Scotland: National Rural Network
Booking is now open for the Scottish Boders and Dumfries and Galloway regional events of the Scottish National Rural Network. These free events are a great chance to get updates on rural funding opportunities, hear from projects from the area and further afield and network with a wide range of people.
The Scottish Borders event takes place on Tuesday 16th February 2010 from 10am to 3.30pm at Springwood Hall, Kelso. The Dumfries and Galloway event takes place on Wednesday 17th February 2010 from 10.30am to 3.30pm at Lockerbie Town Hall, Lockerbie.
Beverley Maclean, Scottish National Rural Network regional coordinator said, "We're looking forward to visiting the South of Scotland with the Scottish Borders and Dumfries and Galloway regional events. Both events look set to be lively, with a range of project presentations and updates. It will be a great chance to meet people and find out more about what's happening in these areas."
The Scottish Borders event takes place on Tuesday 16th February 2010 from 10am to 3.30pm at Springwood Hall, Kelso. The event has a theme of Rural Development and the Local Economy. Bryan McGrath, Head of Economic Development and Regeneration at Scottish Borders Council will give the opening remarks on 'Rural development and the economy - where are we now?' There will be information updates on the Scottish National Rural Network, LEADER and Rural Priorities.
Project presentations will come from the Scottish Borders Food Network, Tweed Valley Tourist Consortium, Whitmuir Organics and the Fintry Development Trust. Following lunch there will be a facilitated discussion session.

The Dumfries and Galloway event takes place on Wednesday 17th February 2010 from 10.30am to 3.30pm at Lockerbie Town Hall, Lockerbie. The event will be chaired by Cathy Agnew, Chair of the LEADER Local Action Group. There will be information updates on the Scottish National Rural Network, LEADER and Rural Priorities.
Project presentations will be from the Xcel Project and Here We Are Cairndow. Following a networking lunch there will be a facilitated discussion session.
